Idiot Savants

Late 90s, early 00s

 

I played many gigs and recorded a couple of EPs with these guys. My good friend Greg on guitar and vocals, Rory on bass, Rob on guitar, Simon on drums for most of the time, Simon trumpet, Lou and Luke saxophones. 'Drinking Song' is one of my all-time favourites, opening with one of my favourite couplets ever -

 

'Got a new pair of shoes, makes me feel good for a day / But they won't take my blues away'
